This page documents the opt-in flow for BabySOS Alerts, our safety-critical SMS program, so that carriers and reviewers can verify how consent is collected without needing an account. Nothing on this page requires logging in.

1. The program

Program name: BabySOS Alerts

Brand: BabySOS — a childcare marketplace app connecting parents with local caregivers.

What we send: safety-critical alerts only — an urgent SOS request for childcare, and a match request from another user. Texts back up the app's push notifications, because a missed SOS is a product failure. We send no marketing or promotional texts on this program, and no links.

Message frequency: varies with activity on the user's account; typically 0–10 messages per month.

Cost: BabySOS does not charge for these messages. Message and data rates may apply from the user's carrier.

2. Where users opt in

Opt-in happens inside the BabySOS mobile app only. There is no web form, no paper form, no point-of-sale capture, and no purchased, rented, or third-party list. A phone number can only be added by the signed-in account holder, for their own account.

The path is: Menu → Communications → Alerts → Add number.

The text-alerts switch is off by default and cannot be turned on at all until a mobile number has been added and confirmed with a one-time code. There is no pre-checked box anywhere in the flow.

3. The opt-in steps

  1. The user creates a BabySOS account and signs in. (Opt-in is not offered to anyone who is not signed in.)
  2. They open Communications from the app menu and find the Alerts section.
  3. They tap Add number. A sheet opens headed “Get BabySOS Alerts by text” carrying the full disclosure reproduced in section 4 below, with tappable links to our Terms and Privacy Policy.
  4. They type their own mobile number and tap Agree & send code. This tap is the affirmative act of consent.
  5. We text a one-time six-digit code to that number. The user must enter it in the app to prove the number is theirs. An unverified number is never sent an alert.
  6. On success we record the consent with a timestamp and the source, enable the text-alerts switch, and send one confirmation message containing the program disclosure (see section 5).

The user can turn the switch off, or remove the number entirely, at any time from the same screen — or by replying STOP to any message.

4. Disclosure shown at the moment of consent

This is the exact text displayed on the opt-in sheet, above the number field and the Agree & send code button:

“BabySOS Alerts sends safety-critical alerts only — urgent SOS childcare requests and match requests. Typically 0-10 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel at any time.

Consent is not a condition of using BabySOS or of any purchase. We’ll text you a six-digit code to confirm the number is yours.”

Followed by tappable links: Terms  ·  Privacy Policy

5. Sample messages

Confirmation, sent once immediately after a number is verified:

BabySOS alerts: you are subscribed. We text only safety-critical alerts (SOS requests and match requests) — roughly 0-10 msgs/month. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.

Ongoing alerts:

BabySOS: New SOS Request. Sarah M. needs a caregiver now - open the app to view their request.

BabySOS: Match Request. You have a new Match Request from Sarah M.

6. HELP and STOP

Reply STOP (also STOPALL, QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE) to cancel. The user receives one confirmation and nothing further.

You will no longer receive BabySOS alerts by text. Reply START to resume.

Reply HELP (or INFO) for help.

BabySOS sends alerts for urgent childcare requests. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Support: admin@babysosapp.com. Msg & data rates may apply.

Reply START (also UNSTOP, YES, SUBSCRIBE) to opt back in. A number that has opted out cannot be re-added by typing it into the app again — only an inbound START from the handset itself releases it, so an opt-out cannot be undone by anyone but the person who made it.

7. Note for reviewers

Because BabySOS is a mobile app and the opt-in screen sits behind account sign-in, a reviewer cannot reach it directly from the public web. This page exists so the consent flow and its disclosures can be verified without an account. The wording in section 4 is reproduced verbatim from the app.

The app is published on the Apple App Store as BabySOS. For anything further — including a walkthrough or a demo account — email admin@babysosapp.com.
